knitting buddha

I learned how to crochet at a very early age. Although not leaving it completely, about 15 years ago I returned to crocheting with more intent. Then, in 2004, I jumped into the world of knitting after visiting a yarn shop in Ft. Bragg, California. At first I completely immersed myself in learning how to knit but also enjoyed the meditative quality of knitting. This eventually lead to spinning and carding and wool washing Wednesdays.

This blog is called knittingbuddha as it combines my interest in Buddhism and that of the meditative quality I find in knitting and spinning – it’s all about the process and the journey.

I’m an art director for a magazine, which always sounds really glamorous until I tell people it’s a business magazine. Then it’s akin to telling someone I make square shaped, beige widgets used to mash potatoes. It’s usually better when I tell people I’ve painted five art cars. The first was in 1995. The last one was the hood of the queen’s car. The car is gone, but we use that paining as the logo picture for knittingbuddha.

I draw, paint, doodle and sketch but also take pictures and have recently taken up playing the ukulele. I have a repertoire. Maybe I’ll go on tour. We do like to travel. Knit shops and roadside attractions are on our radar.

OUR AMAZING TEAM

Dogs lead a nice life. You never see a dog with a wristwatch.

Clare
claresquare

Clare likes to bark and carry around her ball. Sometimes she wants you to throw the ball and she’ll go fetch it but then she just wants to carry it around. She doesn’t like thunder.

Sydney
sydneysquare

Sydney is the momma dog and will groom the other two and keeps them in line but she is a very sweet girl, likes to snuggle and is just an all around chill pup.

Trudi
trudisquare

If there has been a yarn party, Trudi was the leader of the pack. She only likes fresh bones and is relentless in her pursuit of a fresh bone. Otherwise, she prefers a bone one of the other dogs has.
